OUR STORY
3D Organic Polymer Silk was founded by three UC Davis undergraduate students who share a passion for interdisciplinary research and making things work. In the spring of 2019, a second-year cell biology student with an idea wandered into the basement of Shields Library. There she found two mechanical engineers who would listen to her idea, tell her she was insane, and then proceed to build it anyway. Four years, one fantastic research team, and a patented invention later, 3D-OPS is committed to designing a better future through their technology, as insane as the ideas may be.

HALEY NOELLE

​Haley Bergman is a graduate of UC Davis and holds a BS degree in Cell Biology. Haley is heavily involved in researching 3D printing with organic silk polymers, investigating the role of alpha-synuclein in neurodegeneration, and building innovative techniques in bioinformatics and comparative genomics. As CEO, Haley represents 3D OPS interests and vision while building valuable relationships with partners and customers.
AVERY WILLIAMSON
Chief Technical Officer
Founder
Avery Williamson is a Master's student at Carnegie Mellon University and holds a BS in Mechanical Engineering from UC Davis. Her research specializes in soft robotics, 3D bioprinting of hydrogels and organic polymers, and bio-inspired design with a focus on sustainability. Avery oversees the R&D of 3D OPS technologies, including the mechanical design and prototyping of the Ariadne 1.0 and the production of Silk Fibroin products.

PRESTON VANDERPAN
Chief Operations Officer
Founder
Preston Vanderpan holds a dual BS in Mechanical and Aerospace Engineering from UC Davis. His professional interests include the development of novel sensors, haptics, and neural interfaces for the advancement of human-robot interactions, and he assists with mechanical design, testing, and fluid simulation at 3D-OPS. As acting COO, he also oversees operations and ensures that we are always working toward our company vision of revolutionizing healthcare.
